Dr Jim Miller (Chiropractor)

I was excited about starting at Logan College of Chiropractic, in St Louis, USA. However, I was more than a little skeptical that it would take me a full five years to learn to practice chiropractic. My youthful naivety was soon replaced by feelings of sheer apprehension. I was led for the first time into the dissecting lab by our anatomy and physiology instructor.

I was overcome by how much was expected of me and just how complex the human body and especially the nervous system really are. I spent the first hour of my chiropractic career wandering around the dissection table dazed and in disbelief.

A Passion for Helping Others

A great desire to learn about this incredible science of chiropractic allowed me to soldier on and study hard. I moved to the area in 1998. For over 20 years, I’ve had the pleasure of serving the people of Canterbury. Now I’ve enjoyed assisting thousands of people at my own Christchurch Chiropractic practice. My philosophy is very simple: I want people to live happier and healthier lives. Maintaining a healthy spine, and thus nervous system, is fundamental in doing this.

Initially, I thought chiropractic was based on how to get out of pain and how to get back to work. Experience has demonstrated that chiropractic sorts out flexibility and mobility. It also improves many other aspects of a person’s health. This understanding inspired me to provide my patients with the best of care. I do so by keeping up with the latest in leading-edge chiropractic techniques. I have also done further post-graduate training with an emphasis on posture correction.

Good Health Is My Ultimate Aim

As a chiropractor in Christchurch, I practice what I preach. Like everyone I know, good health is my ultimate aim. If I do not look good and feel good, I am hardly in a position to help others. I eat well (90% vegetarian diet), drink plenty of water, and exercise by doing yoga, tai chi, hill walks with Watson, biking and walking.

Walks With Watson

I never neglect to relax the mind, body and soul. It is incredibly important to take time out for yourself. It pays greater dividends later. I also get a chiropractic adjustment once a week from my chiropractor colleagues and do not allow prescription drugs to mask my symptoms, so I can correct the cause of any problems that may occur, which is very rare. What more can I say? I feel fantastic!

My wife, teenage son and daughter keep me busy. I enjoy yoga, riding the bike, beach walks, café’s and socialising with friends and family, sleeping (I’m a great power napper), meditating and watching movies. I’m also often found walking Watson, the clinic dog.
